Frühjahr '96:

DIE TODSÜNDE - Sechs in Berlin lebende Jazz-Musiker sind als Brass Band im Rahmen einer Show für einen großen, deutschen Automobilhersteller auf 3-monatiger Deutschlandtournee - nur des schnöden Mammons wegen.

Herbst '96:

VERLETZUNG DES REINHEITSGEBOTS Nach den zusammen durchgestandenen Strapazen überwiegen bei weitem die positiven Erinnerungen und man will weiterhin als Band zusammen Musik machen. Brass Attack ist geboren, neue Stücke werden geschrieben, arrangiert, geprobt und der Tubist fängt an, auf russisch zu rappen. Zusammen mit dem Percussionisten José "Momo" Valverde (Costa Rica), dem DJ Lebewesen und dem Rap Trio Mundraub werden Aufnahmen für die erste CD Galuboi Wagon gemacht.

1997:

Gewinn des Studiopreises des Berliner Senats, mit dem die Band zunächst nichts anzufangen weiß.

 

Brass Attack  ist Gewinner des Jazz-Nachwuchsfestivals in Leipzig (Moritzbastei).

 

3-wöchiges Engagement am Berliner Ensemble im Rahmen des "Brecht Sommers" und Beginn der Zusammenarbeit mit dem Bänkelsänger Maza (eine weitere Verletzung des Reinheitsgebots). Alle sind beeindruckt von der gebrochenen Schönheit der Musik von Weill, Eisler und Dessau; den Texten von Brecht und dem Motto der Veranstaltung: Spaß haben, die Welt verändern und dabei Geld verdienen" (B. Live-Aufnahmen für das ZDF mit Maza in Augsburg für die kritische Dokumentation "Kreuzzug gegen Brecht".

 

Aufnahmen für die zweite CD Brecht Songs zusammen mit der Berliner Chanteuse Tanja Ries, der polnischen Sängerin Celina Muza und dem Diseur Diserable Maza

1998:

ZDF-Livemitschnitt im Rahmen der Brecht Gala des Suhrkamp Verlages im Schauspielhaus Frankfurt/Main.

 

Geburtstagsparty mit Musik, Glühwein und Torte am Brecht-Denkmal vor dem Berliner Ensemble, sowie diverse Gastspiele mit dem aktuellen Programm.

 

Veröffentlichung der zweiten Produktion Brecht Songs (tutu CD 888 190) und record release Party am Berliner Ensemble.

 

Zahlreiche Auftritte als funky, unplugged street band u.a. beim Theatertreffen am Potsdamer Platz, beim Presseball Brandenburg, oder bei der 2-wöchigen Gourmet-Messe "Hamburg verwöhnt".

1999:

Musikalische Mitgestaltung des Kurt Weill Festes in Dessau.

 

Als "walking act" beim ADAC Ball und bei der ITB.

 

Zahlreiche Club- und Festivalauftritte wie im Miles oder auf dem Jazzfestival in Görlitz.

2000:

u.a. Jazzfestival in Greiz.

2001:

Grundsteinlegung Schweizer Viertel in Berlin, Sommerfest im Mediencentrum Oberbaumcity, italienischer Carneval in Berlin

2002:

musikalische Umrahmung der Jubiläumsfeier des Brecht-Weigl Hauses in Buckow beim internationalen Straßentheaterfest BoulevART in Wismar.

spring '96:

THE SINFUL SIX Jazz musicians from Berlin sign a contract with a german car manufacturer for a three month tour of Germany.

autumn '96:

GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN Surviving the ups and downs the band realized that they had to go on performing together and Brass Attack was born. New pieces were written, arranged and rehearsed. The tuba player started to rap in russian. The first CD Galuboi Wagonis recorded which the percussionist José 'Momo' Valverde from Costa Rica, DJ Lebewesen and the rap Trio Mundraub.

1997:

1997 The Band wins the Berlin Studio Prize, but doesn't quite know what to do with it.

 

Brass Attack  wins as best new band at the Leipzig Festival.

 

The band lands a three week engagement at the "Berliner Ensemble" in conjunction with the summer program celebrating Bertolt Brecht. Here began a collaboration with the travelling market place singer Maza (going against the grain again). The whole band is enthusiastic about the broken beauty of the music of Weill, Eisler and Dessau and the motto of the event: "Have fun, change the world and earn money doing it." (B. Brecht)

 

Live recording with Maza for ZDF television in Brechts hometown Augsburg, a critical documentary "Crusade against Brecht".

 

With the Berliner chanteuse Tanja Ries, the Polish singer Celina Muza and the Diseur Diserable Maza Brass Attack recorded their second CD Brecht Songs.

1998:

At the Playhouse Theatre in Frankfurt / Main, a live performance for Television's channel ZDF, part of Suhrkamp publisher's "Brecht Gala".

 

Brecht's Birthday Party with music, Glühwein and cake at the Brecht memorial in front of the theatre "Berliner Ensemble". Along with various starring performances with the current program.

 

Publication of the second production Brecht Songs (tutu CD 888 190) und record release Party am Berliner Ensemble.

 

Numerous performances as funky, unplugged street band including appearences at the Theatre Meeting Potsdamer Platz, the Presseball Brandenburg or the Gourmet Festival Hamburg.

1999:

Various Club and Gala performances.

 

With Brecht Songs among others at the Kurt Weill Festival in Dessau.

2000

Jazzfestival in Greiz.

2002

Musical framework at the anniversary of the "Brecht Weigl Haus" in Buckow.

 

Funky unplugged street jazz at the international street theatre festival BoulevART in Wismar.
